Ha Long Shipyard Celebrates Delivery of Windcat Amsterdam and Signs Contract for Next-Generation Vessel

December 19, 2025 – Ha Long Shipbuilding Company proudly hosted a landmark ceremony today, marking a double milestone in its partnership with CMB Windcat and Damen Shipyards

HA LONG, VIETNAM – December 19, 2025 – Ha Long Shipbuilding Company proudly hosted a landmark ceremony today, marking a double milestone in its partnership with CMB Windcat and Damen Shipyards: the official delivery of the Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) Windcat Amsterdam and the signing of a new contract for a larger, next-generation vessel.

Delivering Excellence: The Windcat Amsterdam

Following ten days of successful sea trials, the Windcat Amsterdam—the second vessel in its series—was officially handed over to its captain and crew. Designed to support offshore wind operations, the CSOV is built to meet the highest safety standards and ensure continuous uptime in demanding offshore environments.

During the ceremony, Willem van der Wel, Director of Windcat Offshore, expressed his gratitude to the shipyard team: "I am grateful for the hard work that Damen and Ha Long Shipyards have put into the project and we look forward to many successful years in operation".

The vessel is now preparing to sail for Europe, with a scheduled arrival at the Port of Amsterdam next year.

A Future Built on Innovation and Trust

The event also served as a celebration of the long-term collaboration between the parties. A key highlight was the official signing of a contract for a seventh vessel for CMB.Tech—a larger, new design variant.
This new project, identified as the Multi-Purpose Accommodation Support Vessel (MPASV) 10020, belongs to the "Innovation class". Building on the successful CSOV foundation, this vessel will offer:
·         Enhanced Capacity: Accommodation for 190 people on board.
·         Advanced Equipment: Featuring a large deck and a 150-ton subsea crane to support complex offshore projects.
·         Industry Benchmark: A design that sets new standards for innovation in the maritime industry.

Jelle, representing the project team, highlighted the significance of this new contract: "This is more than a signature: it is a strong vote of confidence in the people, the yard, and the collaboration that brought us here today". He specifically thanked the Ha Long Shipyard team for their dedication and support through challenging times.

As Ha Long Shipbuilding Company continues to deliver high-tech vessels like the CSOV series, it reaffirms its position as a world-class shipbuilder capable of meeting the evolving needs of the global renewable energy sector.
